Why was the new deal considered a failure Join or Log In to answer.
depends who you ask, it strengthened the federal government and created hope with programs still in use today, but it did not truly pull us out of the depression (WWII did).

It's a highly debated subject but, some people think it did more for the gov't and business then for the people. For more info WYGO: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_new_deal

Why is x-1 a factor of xraised to the n, minus 1 for every positive n Join or Log In to answer.
To have (X to the n - 1) you will always need the (x-1) as a factor to keep the "- 1" The other negatives or positives will become positive in multiplying, so you always need the (x-1) to produce the 1 being subtracted from the x to the n.

What was john browns plan in 1859 Join or Log In to answer.
John Brown's plan seemed fairly straightforward: he and his men would establish a base in the Blue Ridge Mountains from which they would assist runaway slaves and launch attacks on slaveholders.
-Saraph (0Q / 7A) Thu Feb 28, 2008 8:53am

Brown also met with Frederick Douglass in August of 1859, when Brown told his friend of his intentions of seizing the federal arsenal at Harpers Ferry rather than staging guerilla warfare from the mountains.
