What is Foo and how do they fight it? Join or Log In to answer.
For whatever reason, a foo fighter was a term used in WWII for an unidentified flying object. Maybe planes were too new.
-gomerpyle91 (73Q / 34A) Wed Nov 26, 2008 6:16am

foo fighter was used by Allied pilots in World War II to describe various UFOs or mysterious phenomena seen in the skies over both the European and Pacific Theaters from Nov 1944 onwards

A couturier is a person involved in the clothing fashion industry who makes original garments to order for private clients
-Joshua (15Q / 5A) Sun Oct 12, 2008 2:06pm

Habberdasher sells the stuff to make clothes - he doesn't make clothing himself. That would be one of the terms ElToRo sent.

habberdasher is a hat maker
-Joshua (15Q / 5A) Sun Oct 12, 2008 2:13pm

(To Joshua)
I've found several references to a seller of sewing supplies and a few that also claimed hat maker... Both appear to be correct.
-rivalarrival (82Q / 1489A) Sun Oct 12, 2008 2:18pm

(To Joshua)
I've never seen it used for its intended purpose anywhere but old stories.
-rivalarrival (82Q / 1489A) Sun Oct 12, 2008 2:19pm

lol sorry. I just looked for synonyms.

What exactly is summer solstice? Join or Log In to answer.
Solstices occur twice a year, when the tilt of the Earth's axis is most orientated toward or away from the Sun, causing the Sun to reach its northernmost and southernmost extremes.
-bigmike (33Q / 2522A) Mon Jun 23, 2008 5:05pm

-bigmike (33Q / 2522A) Mon Jun 23, 2008 5:08pm

It is more commonly known as the longest day of the year. That is the day having the most sunlight. So in fact there are two each year. One in the Northern Hemisphere and one in the Southern Hemisphere.

What are the age restrictions for the olympic games? Join or Log In to answer.
It seems to vary by event. Some have no restrictions but have rules like, for a team event, that there be at least 3 players over hte age of 23. Random things like that.
