Today, only about 1,000 pandas are left in the wild and are found in the bamboo forests of southwestern China set aside by the Chinese government as reserves to protect the majestic and very endangered animals

A 2006 study,via DNA analysis, estimated that there might be as many as 2,000 to 3,000 pandas in the wild
