first off take a good safety class, you'll also hear to go with a 250cc, personally I think something a little bigger is safer ~600cc also, look at getting a used one. two people that ride bikes, those that have laid one down and those that are going to

Scheduled for an MSF class in ~5 weeks. I tell my friends "I wear rubbers or a helmets when appropriate"

I'd suggest 500 cc as anything larger is hard to handle and anything smaller isn't useful. Yamaha Virago (cruiser) Buell Blast (sport) Harley 883 (cruiser) or Kawasake ex500 (sport)Honda Shadow (cruiser) would be good. Take the MSF classes.

I prefer bigger than 250 because, the majority of people in cages, aren't going to look for you, and you'll need some power to get out of it. lid and leathers are a must no matter how hot it is. Also avoid center of the lane its slick, esp after rain

wish i could suggest a bike, but other than harley's i don't like cruisers, feels funny sitting on hem.
