Maybe you're the subtle type...? Tourists are the only group i categorically can't stand.
I've learned how to blend. Tourist attract attention, i don't like to. what about tourists don't you like?

I think it's the "bubble" they travel in. And sheer number. But they just seem to suck the beauty and meaning out of places.
You know there the local spots are that don't get tourists. Its why my m.o. is to make friends with locals and hang at the spots they do

you're in alaska, maybe you just don't like big crowds.I call it culture shock. I had that when I went fromthe philippines to san diego. pretty much 3rd world country to first world. another shock from cali to japan (talk about crowded)

I'm from cali. And i've been in crowds. There's something diff about "tourists". Maybe i have latent qualma w/ the middle-class
everyplace I lived, and every place I visited, had their own customs, traditions, and even way of doing things. Even a different set of vernacular.

Yeah, i think travel is too easy and most people don't take the time to learn enough about customs to not be a total dooooosh
travel being easy is a good thing. but one thing you gotta remember, tourists don't have to worry about making an impression, they are there to be impressed and take in the sites.
