I used AVG like he said and it worked fine. Paid usually = better, but the free ones are usually just free for personal use, paid for biz use, so they work too.

Yes, an upside down pan works OK as a makeshift heatsink, especially on a desk or bed.

If you're using it on a desk, you might try using an upside-down cookie sheet. Lot cheaper, works about as well.
