I believe I asked "What do you guys think of it?" As in, is there anything that could use improvement? Anything that should be taken out? Etc.

What kind of germs would showering before entering a public pool prevent that the chlorine could not handle? Join or Log In to answer.
Number one: washing hands or showering usually removes germs through the mechanical process, aka physics. It's mainly a scrubbing+gravity thing. Number two: washing makes sure grimy, dirt crusted people don't bring themselves into the pool.
-jabagawee (4Q / 23A) Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:38am

Shower before swimming helps remove body oils, lotions, deodorant, & hair chemicals from the body. These products can pollute the pool water and require additional maintenance to keep the pool clean and hygienic.

-squirrel (29Q / 463A) Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:12am

so you sure this item will do the trick even doe it doesnt even load to the desktop or i do need the live cd/ubuntu to perform...

as for ubuntu questions. do i istall it or load it up in cd as a boot and it sends me to my login window.
-Chris17 (120Q / 19A) Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:31am

will it erase my data as a restore cd would...

and what about this product...does it work as good as ubuntu or no....http://www.download.com/BartPE-Bootable-Live-Windows-CD-DVD/3000-2094_4-10611130.html?tag=lst-4
-Chris17 (120Q / 19A) Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:33am

Stick with the Ubuntu LiveCD. When you boot from the CD, you should get a sparse desktop as if you were in Windows, with some minor differences. From there, mount your internal hard drive and the external and start transferring.
-jabagawee (4Q / 23A) Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:39am

does it have to be an external hard drive what about alaptob (from pc desktop - pc laptop) (i also have a md passport external hard drive - 120 gb's)

so go with the ubuntu and the Mad Dog MegaVault 3.5...burn the ubuntu to a cd?

however, if you meant a ide/sata-usb connector, you can find a cheap one at newegg.com. most brick-and-mortar stores carry them too. a good liveCD i recommend can be found at ubuntu.com.

1. whats a LiveCD, how does it work, where to get it from 2. whats a "IDE/SATA-USB adapter" how does it work, and where to get it from for soladude's question.......my friend haves an e-machine's restore cd that came with the computer but not a windows xp setup cd.....when i pop it in it says 1. restore windows xp 2.boot from cd's command prompt (ms-dos.....A:/>___) something like that Join or Log In to answer.
1. LiveCD's are like portable OSes; you boot from them and get a working environment to slurp your files. 2. The adapter plugs into your hard drive and then into your USB port to connect the two. 3. Don't mess around with the Restore CD(1/1)
-jabagawee (4Q / 23A) Sun Nov 25, 2007 9:41am

if you're not technologically proficient.
-jabagawee (4Q / 23A) Sun Nov 25, 2007 9:41am

I would suggest that you use the restore CD and boot to the command propmpt. If the computer does not reboot after being at the command pronpt for a while this probably eliminates any hardware malfunction concerns. Proceed with XP install.

extension.....to last qustion even while it keeps restarting at the ms-dos screen/ windows xp loading screen i can retreive the data with a usb cable........or no? are there other methods Join or Log In to answer.
As said before, you'll need a LiveCD to complete the task. Linux distributions with NTFS read/write support work best for me. You may have a BartPE based Windows XP disc or a BSD LiveCD. The choice is yours. However, you will not be (1/1)
-jabagawee (4Q / 23A) Sun Nov 25, 2007 9:19am

able to extract anything from the computer with simply a USB cable and a hard drive; there is no software to move the data, right?
-jabagawee (4Q / 23A) Sun Nov 25, 2007 9:20am

best is take the hard drive out of the computer, connect it to a IDE/SATA-USB adapter, and connect that via USB to another computer to copy files off of it (this is how to get data off when the original PC doesn't boot up)
-takabanana (0Q / 7A) Sun Nov 25, 2007 9:20am

U can also try these softwares 2 retrieve data

Have you tried booting from your Windows XP CD? Does it still restart after doing that and getting to the Windows setup menu?

my friend have a serious computer problem...where every time you press the power button it starts up and and goes to the windows xp loading screen.....few minutes later it restarts its self over and over again with no ending. so how do i fix this..........and if cant be fix how would one retreive the data of the computer. Join or Log In to answer.
Bad power supply, bad RAM, or overheating (make sure all fans in computer are running when on and aren't blocked by anything). Retrieve data off of hard drive by connecting to a device that allows any hard drive to be connected via USB.
-takabanana (0Q / 7A) Sun Nov 25, 2007 9:09am

use an external hard drive and a liveCD to extract/back up all the data from the computer. in order to fix it, we would have to know some more specifics about your problem.
-jabagawee (4Q / 23A) Sun Nov 25, 2007 9:10am

I have seen this before and my resolution was to intall another copy of Windows XP on the computer (not a reformat install). This will allow you to still access any data that is on the computer but you will have to re-install your programs.
-SolaDude (0Q / 4A) Sun Nov 25, 2007 9:12am

normally this happens wen ther is a voltage fluctuation or the UPS battery is slow. it keeps restarting
automatically.
