then it depends on where you take it. it won't take an hours worth of labor so figure cd drive + 40-80/hour best buy is expensive. mom and pop stores can do this fix easy, possibly while you wait (depends on back log)

yup. thats why i bitched at the price. now i have a computer friend that tells me how long it should take to fix something and i tell the computer store thats the time i'll pay for. most of the times it works

i gave a mom and pop shop $100 because I was having a PEBKAC error. I was up for 4 days couldn't find my on power switch, kept hitting the reset button to turn on the computer (in my defense compy always stayed on and it wasn't a standard case)

easy, turn off computer, switch off on back, but leave plugged in, open case (both panels on tower), touch case to remove static and ground yourself, unscrew cd drive, unplug connections, slide out and reverse directions with new cd drive.
