Great, so what is the density of a kangaroo? Join or Log In to answer.
Density, like all complex objects, varies depending on where you measure it. Bone and cartilage are very dense while pockets of fat are less so.

I shouldn't have indicated density is a complex object. Ooops!

Hey, just having fun. Hope it fits the Mosio culture!

How can you determine if something will float? (Besides drowning it?) Join or Log In to answer.
buoyancy is the upward force on an object produced by the surrounding liquid or gas in which it is fully or partially immersed, due to the pressure difference of the fluid between the top and bottom of the object. The net upward buoyancy force is equal to

You text "what is the density of ..." to Mosio ... if it's less than 1, it will float ... And I'm not gay

but isn't the density of a battleship greater than 1? the battleship floats tho...
-wdreiling (13Q / 720A) Wed Jun 18, 2008 2:27pm

(To wdreiling)
there are many factors to consider ... the shape of the boat is meant cut the water in a certain way, air compartments, etc
-Phil (26Q / 172A) Wed Jun 18, 2008 2:30pm

It will float in water if it displaces more weight in water than the weight of the object. Find the volume of the object and determine if that amount of water weigs more or less. Presto!
-wdreiling (13Q / 720A) Wed Jun 18, 2008 2:25pm

Calculate if it is more or less dense than water

What is the origin of the verb 'to grok'? Meaning? Join or Log In to answer.
Robert A. Heinlein originally coined the term grok in his 1961 novel Stranger in a Strange Land as a Martian word that literally means "to drink", and had a much more profound figurative meaning that is hard for Earthlings to understand because of our ass
