Passover, or Pesach in Hebrew, commemorates the Jews' exodus from Egypt more than 3,000 years ago.

Also, "Passover" commemorates God's sparing of the Hebrew firstborn as he saw the blood of the Passover lamb on the doorposts of their houses on the night of the Tenth Plague of Egypt.
