What does it mean to say a cell phone is "unlocked"? If I buy a replacement T-Mobile phone on eBay does it need to say unlocked?

Unlocked allows a phone locked to one network to be used on another. if you buy a t-mobile phone and want to use it on t-moble's network you do NOT need it to be unlocked.

Almost. it only works for GSM Service (where you need a SIM card) an unocked TMO phone will not work with Verizon but will work with say ATT.

far away shots are from satellites but they have planes lots of planes for closer shots. i saw a google maps car driving around with 4 cameras posted high on the roof once so i assume its something like that but on planes

if you're refering to the street level shots, google has deployed a team of "360 degree street view camera" equipped cars that literally drive around on each street taking snapshots of everything around them.

what i could find was that sony broadband funded "keyhole 3D" which is the software used to create google earth. Currently though i'm sure its up t google to fund it probably involving advertisers and private funding
