My computer kept freezing without error randomly, and now it freezes sometimes before windows xp even starts to load. Could it be my Ram or Hdd? Join or Log In to answer.
probably hd, I had to install a new one on my vaio when my mom knocked mine down and it was having similar symptoms.
-constantskeptic (11Q / 39A) Wed Oct 22, 2008 8:39pm

Do you think there is any way to recover any data from the hdd relatively easy without crashing my PC? Maybe loading it as a slave?
-KliCk (102Q / 5A) Wed Oct 22, 2008 8:44pm

Could be either ram or HDD... use memtest86 (available on ubuntu install disk) to check the ram. You might be able to use chkdisk, scandisk or another utility to check the hard drive.
-rivalarrival (79Q / 1388A) Wed Oct 22, 2008 8:44pm

Get an Ubuntu install disk - the standard installation disk boots as a live CD, and will give you access to the hard drive and the network - you can move your stuff easily. The folks at ubuntuforums can help you with other stuff too.
-rivalarrival (79Q / 1388A) Wed Oct 22, 2008 8:46pm

I've been meaning to switch to ubuntu or another form of linux so I guess this is the best time to try hah.
-KliCk (102Q / 5A) Wed Oct 22, 2008 8:48pm

There are other linux livecd's with far more sophisticated rescue and repair tools, but I've never needed anything beyond the ubuntu disk.
-rivalarrival (79Q / 1388A) Wed Oct 22, 2008 8:51pm

Well, as long as you're willing to feel like an idiot for awhile, it's great. After a couple weeks, you'll start to figure out how crippled Windows really is.

How do you choose between money and happiness, assuming both are of equal importance? Join or Log In to answer.
That's sounds like a question for the magic 8 ball... Just make money doing
something you love.
-MattEvans16 (5Q / 120A) Wed Oct 15, 2008 1:18pm

if the two are mutually exclusive then happiness of course. if you are happy without money then you don't need it
-estelarobinson (27Q / 608A) Wed Oct 15, 2008 1:18pm

Look at additional criteria - longer time period, for example. Life span - happier people tend to live longer, but people with more money leave more to their offspring.
-rivalarrival (79Q / 1388A) Wed Oct 15, 2008 1:18pm

You can be a gazillionaire and get a disease with no cure. What good is money then? Broaden your horizons & learn to appreciate the little things in life that we so often take for granted.
-cheshmetroshan (1Q / 454A) Wed Oct 15, 2008 1:19pm

It depends on you, imo. For me, if i had a lot money i could buy everything that makes me happy. Some people say u cant buy love, i say youll never know till you try.
-ElToRo15 (167Q / 617A) Wed Oct 15, 2008 1:21pm

Comments:
I notice the people who say that are generally poor people. :-)
-rivalarrival (79Q / 1388A) Wed Oct 15, 2008 1:22pm

(To rivalarrival)
Not poor just not enough money to buy EVERYTHING I want. Also,I hate having to decide between Video game A and Video Game B. lol wish i could buy them both
-ElToRo15 (167Q / 617A) Sun Oct 19, 2008 10:27pm

How can you say job and happiness are equally important? I guess at least you didnt say job = happiness... I would say go for happiness over the job... the job that is the most flexible and allows you the most free time to be you.

If super names include the person's first name and then the word Ben, and then the person's father's name, then why do Hebrew names not sound like Moses-Ben and Abraham-Ben--with multiple Ben's going back, going back, going back. And instead of, you know, just it seems like, [...]--Abraham. That's far as they go, but then there's also the one guy that [...] fine who had, it was Erin, then Moses then Asher from the 10th century and that made me think of going back to [...]grandfather so why not go back further? So anybody knows the answer to this, then please respond. Join or Log In to answer.

When they officially name the scroll of names the Ben is spoken for every name. I think its more of a formal right then an everyday hody-doo

-bigmike (33Q / 2511A) Fri Mar 21, 2008 4:59pm

I am pretty sure ben is derived from the arabic bin, which means simply "son
of", so I believe to trace the genealogy it would be moses ben abraham ben
joseph etc. which would mean moses son of abraham son of joseph...

Contrails or vapor trails are condensation trails and artificial cirrus clouds made by the exhaust of aircraft engines or wingtip vortices which precipitate a stream of tiny ice crystals in moist, frigid upper air.

How to stop a nose from continually running? Does Tylenol help Join or Log In to answer.
An over-the-counter antihistamine may be helpful, follow label instructions. Sniffing and swallowing or gentle blowing may help.

I guess it would depend on your definition of big. Did you have anyone in mind? There don't seem to be any big names rolling to the forefront.

for the centuries, however, it's once every 400 years, so 1904 was one, but 1900 was not (2000 was).
