If I have a 75 Watt Peak Inverter power adapter for my car (input: ~12VDC, output: 120VAC@60Hz), will it run something that needs 120 volts 5 amps? Thanks Join or Log In to answer.

No way. Not by a LONG shot - 5 amps at 120 volts is 600 watts. If you're using something with an inductive load (tv, motor) you'll need an even larger supply - 1200 watts + in some cases.

Learned that the hard way - had a TV that claimed to pull 120 watts. Had a 200 watt inverter. If I warmed it up by plugging it into mains power for 5 minutes, I could get it to run on the inverter. But I couldn't get it to start up cold.

It's fairly easy to visualize electricity in terms of plumbing. Volts are equivalent to pressure; watts are equivalent to GPM.

Personally, I look at it more in terms of magnetic and RF energy... Plumbing is a lot more intuitive when you're learning, though.

usually a dealership will be able to make a copy from just your VIN number. probably helpful to call and confirm first!

Lots of small studies/surveys on this... WYGO (when you get online) google "mobile internet usage"... one study says for mobile sites, usage is mirroring the wired version of that site (time visiting site, clicks)
