Well, in my professional opinion, that'd be what we in the biz call a "thingy"

Looks like a case for a wind generator, could be wrong. That or it's one gaint lego.

Wow, I think you're right.. They're all headed West (toward Texas), and almost perfectly match http://www.exchange3d.com/cubecart/miscelaneous/wind-energy-generator/prod_609.html

Thanks!!

Wow, perfect example of the power of Mosio. 20 minutes to get your answer? Not bad. PS You should have that crack fixed. Much cheaper to fix it than to replace the whole windshield once it expands.

(To astx813)
heh, not my windshield.. That's my boss's.

Although, my windshield is far worse. In Mississippi, cracks considered normal.

Looks like a male Black Widow
-modcom (41Q / 7653A) Sun Jul 27, 2008 4:56pm

Comments:
yikes.. looks like you're right, a "Western Black Widow". I hit it with a bunch of 50-foot range Wasp & Hornet killer.. hope that does it.
-Yeraze (5Q / 89A) Sun Jul 27, 2008 5:03pm

I'm not sure but heres a place that has pics and info of a lot of spiders.

As an avid (organic) gardener, I'm really sad to hear that you sprayed it. It's NOT a male black widow. It's a garden spider. Harmless to you!
-meowdoc (27Q / 418A) Sun Jul 27, 2008 5:29pm

Comments:
Are you sure? It bears a striking resemblance to the spider at http://whatsthatbug.com/widow.html identified as a "Latrodectus hesperis, the Western Black Widow, a male specimen"
-Yeraze (5Q / 89A) Sun Jul 27, 2008 6:33pm

Sadly, they are GOOD spiders in the garden. They eat tons of insects that can cause problems, and they don't generally cause humans any problems.
-meowdoc (27Q / 418A) Sun Jul 27, 2008 5:30pm

Think about nature. It's all a war among various plants and animals. Chemical sprays WILL kill some things, but they also kill other things; that's one of the many reasons we have so much cancer and other diseases and

are losing so many species. Please consider NOT killing any animal or plant just because it is there. It may actually come in HANDY in the future controlling something else you don't want.

I understand your sentiments and agree to a degree. But when a suspected black widow spider is hanging around my 5 year olds play area, it's gotta go.
-Yeraze (5Q / 89A) Sun Jul 27, 2008 6:29pm

I totally agree that a black widow would have to go if in my yard (especially around children). I don’t think the picture depicts a black widow, though. See how enlongated the back half is?
-meowdoc (27Q / 418A) Sun Jul 27, 2008 7:27pm

A black widow has a really short, blunt rear (and also has red on it, which this one doesn’t). Here’s a link to a pic of a garden spider: http://www.digital.mississippi-photo-gallery.com/spider/
-meowdoc (27Q / 418A) Sun Jul 27, 2008 7:28pm

Comments:
as I live in Mississippi, that is interesting. I still think my pic is closer to the western widow as the yellow as a single stripe down the back. But I'm far from an expert, and could easily be wrong.
