I know nothing about this, but here's what I found: it means that a partition could not be mounted.

happens becuz the "root" argument given to grub is wrong. @ grub menu, press 'e' & check the "root (hd0,2)" or similar line. Go n2 command mode w/'c' & use the 'find' commnd to locate the right partition, ex: find /boot/grub/menu.lst
