What was the 1911 rule of reason? Join or Log In to answer.
The rule, is that only combinations and contracts unreasonably restraining trade are subject to actions under the anti-trust laws and that size and possession of monopoly power are not illegal.

I was totally thinking about something else..
-rivalarrival (79Q / 1386A) Sun Nov 9, 2008 7:43pm

Is a standard courts use in testing the legality of business conduct under section 1 of the Sherman Antitrust Act (1890), which prohibits “every contract, combination … or conspiracy, in restraint of trade.”

So does Obama officially win? My friend says that he only won the popular vote. And that the electoral vote is in december? Is that right? Join or Log In to answer.
Obama is our new president! Official! =) =) =) =)
-grooviekenn (260Q / 154A) Tue Nov 4, 2008 8:22pm

what happened to the december electoral? Is that negated because of all of Obama's vote?
-SCHU (17Q / 0A) Tue Nov 4, 2008 8:24pm

McCain is giving his concession speech right now.
-grooviekenn (260Q / 154A) Tue Nov 4, 2008 8:25pm

The electoral college still needs to vote. Tonight was only for the states to hold a popular vote, which the electorates then carry on to the actual vote on the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December (15th)

However, OBAMA WON!
-x68507 (16Q / 136A) Tue Nov 4, 2008 8:27pm

So what happens if he wins the electorate?
-SCHU (17Q / 0A) Tue Nov 4, 2008 8:28pm

If you really want to play the hypothetical, whoever wins the electoral college wins the presidency. If McCain wins for some reason on the 15th, he will be the Pres on Jan 20, anarchy pursues and America as we know it no longer exists.

What's your opinion on who'll win the election? (based on statistics rather than personal views) Join or Log In to answer.
Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) has taken the largest lead yet among likely voters against Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) in the national Gallup poll released Saturday. Obama expanded his lead to ten percent from nine percent on Friday.
-bigox25 (121Q / 125A) Sun Nov 2, 2008 1:15pm

Obama's lead is a dramatic rise from the 49-47 percent margin that Gallup registered just four days ago. Both of these likely voter estimates in turn are almost identical to Gallup's 52% to 41% registered voter estimate.
-bigox25 (121Q / 125A) Sun Nov 2, 2008 1:17pm

whats your opinion as to who will who the electoral vote? I want your opinion based on statistics.
-SCHU (17Q / 0A) Sun Nov 2, 2008 1:26pm

You want an opinion, or you want statistics? Either way, Obama is almost definitely going to win the popular vote. If he subsequently loses the electoral vote, McCain will be a lame-duck walking into office, and the state bills to suppress
-rivalarrival (79Q / 1386A) Sun Nov 2, 2008 1:20pm

Comments:
the electoral college by tying their electoral votes to the national popular vote regardless of state popular vote will be passed in states across the nation.

-sharkey (96Q / 1500A) Wed Oct 22, 2008 1:22pm

So he associates with socialists but isnt one?
-SCHU (17Q / 0A) Wed Oct 22, 2008 1:24pm

no, he participates in representative democracy, not socialism. his nation is built on capitalism.
-hunter (116Q / 471A) Wed Oct 22, 2008 1:22pm

i'm sure he's met a socialist or 2. but no, he's not one. he's a democrat & capitalist, whatever that means these days.
-sharkey (96Q / 1500A) Wed Oct 22, 2008 1:25pm

does it make him a socialist if he wants to spread the wealth?
-SCHU (17Q / 0A) Wed Oct 22, 2008 1:27pm

Socialism is the idea that the state owns and operates what we know as corporations. Obama is not a socialist. His healthcare plan could be construed as socialism, but it would be a stretch.
-rivalarrival (79Q / 1386A) Wed Oct 22, 2008 1:28pm

How could it be construed as such?
-SCHU (17Q / 0A) Wed Oct 22, 2008 1:46pm

i don't think so. he's just saying let's give tax breaks to ppl, not corporations. and i could definitely use some $$$
-sharkey (96Q / 1500A) Wed Oct 22, 2008 1:29pm

No, "spreading the wealth" isn't really socialism. In a socialist system, small business owners and independent contractors could not exist - they would be employees of the state.
