Can I run all pc programs on new mac osx? Join or Log In to answer.
Its not the O.S. Youhave to have the MAC Computer with the Intel Chip. Then you can make it work with some PC software
-modcom (41Q / 7929A) Fri Dec 21, 2007 5:47pm

Only if you also install the particular PC OS for that program as well (Boot Camp or virtualize).
-Noddegamra (20Q / 16A) Fri Dec 21, 2007 5:50pm

Leopard comes with Bootcamp. All you need is the Intel chip and a copy of Windows.
-bethie (147Q / 500A) Fri Dec 21, 2007 6:06pm

Many programs will run if you download "Wine" -- it's free and works since Mac OS X is "unix like". Google "Wine HQ"

-TransAm (7Q / 758A) Fri Dec 21, 2007 5:01pm

Working crossword. Think it may be saw
-kyroadbiker (24Q / 20A) Fri Dec 21, 2007 5:02pm

Saw looks like a seriously scary movie. I haven't seen any of them. That sounds like it though.
-TransAm (7Q / 758A) Fri Dec 21, 2007 5:04pm

It most likely is Saw. The first one starts in a messy bathroom/restroom.

What's a good site crawler that I can use to create a robot.txt file? Join or Log In to answer.
Typically robots.txt files are for Stopping search engines, but if you want to crawl the site, you want to do the opposite, i think? check out www.robotstxt.org for more info, but also let me know what you want to do and i'll help more
-elvis (80Q / 431A) Fri Dec 21, 2007 3:02pm

Well maybe i worded that wrong i guess. I want to have a list of all the files and then from there i'll go and make the txt file.
-poppeseed (129Q / 490A) Fri Dec 21, 2007 3:04pm

this site may help: www.xml-sitemaps.com, it'll build the sitemap for you, if you need something custom, you may have to write a script to output all ur filenames for you.
-elvis (80Q / 431A) Fri Dec 21, 2007 3:12pm

Depending on the OS of the server you're using, if you want the list of all the files, cd into the directory then type the command "ls -R" for *nix. I'm not sure for Windows.
-Noddegamra (20Q / 16A) Fri Dec 21, 2007 3:13pm

Comments:
And you might want to append the output to a text file, so "ls -R > files.txt". But this is a very crude way.
-Noddegamra (20Q / 16A) Fri Dec 21, 2007 3:15pm

Allright, thanks for the links! have a good holiday season (tryin to be PC here...)
-poppeseed (129Q / 490A) Fri Dec 21, 2007 3:16pm

don't be too pc, macs seem to be all the rage right now...

what is the etymology of the word "sesquicentennial" ? Join or Log In to answer.
It is a latin derived name. The root elements of each word are literally multiplied together to create the anniversary name.
-sgtralph (5Q / 479A) Fri Dec 21, 2007 2:29pm

The word sesquicentennial (an anniversary of 150 years) is broken down as sesqui- (1½) x centennial (100 years).
-sgtralph (5Q / 479A) Fri Dec 21, 2007 2:30pm

"pertaining to a century and a half," 1880, from L. sesqui- "one and a half" (from semis "a half" + -que "and") + centennial (q.v.). First recorded ref. is to Baltimore's.
-jwhitney (0Q / 19A) Fri Dec 21, 2007 2:31pm

Latin sesqui- "one and a half" (from semis "a half" + -que "and") + Latin cent(um) "hundred" and English (bi)ennial.
