A CD-R can be written with data just once. CD-RW's however can be written and overwritten with data multiple times

well it doesn't look like there is such a thing as cd+r, just cd-r and cd-rw. However, there is a dvd-r and dvd+r which are just different formats. dvd-r is a more common format.
